Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to make my reservation?

  • The fastest and easiest way to book is online,  just click the book it button below. Once you click it you can see all available dates and times. You’ll receive a confirmation of your booking via email. If you would like to make a reservation with less than 24 hours' notice, or for private or custom tour requests, please contact us.
  • We run tours on Fridays, Saturday and Sundays from April through November.

What are the participation requirements or restrictions?

  • You must be 16 years or older, and no shorter than 4'8 to participate in our tours and operate an electric bike. Guides reserve the right to request proof of age of any rider. Riders should also be at least five feet tall to operate their own bike.

Can you accommodate large groups?

  • At this time, we are taking groups of up to five individuals on a tour, if you have a private group you can book all six bikes and do a self-guided tour and it would be considered a rental.

How fit do I need to be?

  • Although the electric bikes will take all of the hard work out of your ride it is not a regular bike. It is heavier and can be tricky to get used to at first. The main requirement is that you be coordinated and fit enough to balance a 60 pound bike while standing.

  • Riders must have the physical coordination, reaction, and mental capabilities to control a bicycle and manage traffic, in addition to managing road conditions and sudden situations with respect to

    the laws and instructions governing bicycle use.

  • Persons with any mental or physical conditions that may make them susceptible to injury, impair their physical dexterity or mental capabilities to recognize, understand, and follow safety instructions—or understand

    the hazards inherent to its use will be evaluated on a case to case basis.

  •  It is a good idea to consult your doctor before the tour if you have any medical condition or issue that affects your ability to safely perform

    physical activities, or if you:

    - are or may be pregnant;

    - have heart, respiratory, back, joint, or other orthopedic conditions;

    - have high blood pressure;

    - have difficulty with physical exercise

I’m not an experienced cyclist. Can I take this tour?

  • We provide instructions and a short practice ride before every tour. If a rider is not able to balance or complete the practice ride confidently, that they accept a full refund and sit out the tour.

Are your tours safe?

  • Absolutely! We take every possible safety precaution before, during, and after the ride. Our bikes are bright and very visible on the road, and we provide helmets to all riders. Some of our bikes have flags on them and you can choose to wear a reflective vest. We take care of our bikes and inspect them before and after every ride. We also provide instructions and a short practice ride before every tour, along with a quick review of bike laws and signals. If a rider is not able to balance or complete a test ride confidently, they will be asked to accept a full refund and sit out the tour.

Do I have to sign a waiver?

  • Yes, the main purchaser will get a text with a link to a customer portal where a waiver will be provided, and all riders must sign it before heading out on their tour. All customers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and that adult must sign for them. Once your booking is made, you will receive an email asking you to sign a waiver before your tour. Or you can wait and sign the waiver on location.

What happens if it rains on the day of my tour?

  • We offer a 100% refund if a tour is canceled due to rain. If there is light rain in the forecast but none at the start of the tour, we will decide together at the time of the tour whether to ride. We will provide rain ponchos and rain covers for the storage bags on the bikes to protect your belongings.

Will there be bathrooms along the way?

  • Yes. We make several stops during the tour that have bathrooms and there is a public bathroom along the ride.

Do we go into any of the historic sites?

  • Yes, the private tours include admission into our living history sites and you may receive a day pass so after your tour with us you can continue to visit other sites.

Do you provide any water?

  • Yes, you will be given a bottle of water for your trip.
